How Many Paid Leave Days Do I Get as FDH?
Paid Annual Leave for Foreign Domestic Helpers in Hong Kong
If you work as a Foreign Domestic Helper (FDH) in Hong Kong, you are entitled to paid annual leave after completing 12 months of employment with the same employer. Your leave entitlement increases the longer you work for the same employer.

Rules for Taking Annual Leave
- Leave Schedule: The employer must decide the time of the leave after consulting the FDH, and provide a written notice at least 14 days in advance (unless both parties agree on a shorter notice period).
- Rest Days & Holidays: If a rest day or statutory holiday falls within the annual leave period, it will count as annual leave. The employer must provide an additional rest day or holiday in return.
Payment for Annual Leave
- The employer must pay the full annual leave pay no later than the next regular payday after the FDH returns from leave.
- Employers who fail to grant annual leave or do not pay annual leave pay without a valid reason can face legal action and a maximum fine of HKD 50,000.
