How Much Do Foreign Domestic Helpers Earn in Hong Kong?
Minimum Salary for OFW as Foreign Domestic Helpers in Hong Kong
If you are working as a Foreign Domestic Helper (FDH) in Hong Kong, it is important to know your rights—especially regarding your salary. The Hong Kong government sets a Minimum Allowable Wage (MAW) to ensure fair compensation for all FDHs.
As of 27 September 2024, the Labour Department has announced an increase in the minimum wage:
- Minimum Salary: HKD 4,990 per month (previously HKD 4,870)
- Approx. IDR 10,520,000
- Approx. PHP 37,200
- Food Allowance: If your employer does not provide free food, they must pay you at least HKD 1,236 per month
- Approx. IDR 2,600,000
- Approx. PHP 9,200

- Your employer must pay at least the minimum wage.
