How to Upgrade to iAM Smart+?

Easy way to upgrade to iAM Smart+ for Foreign Domestic Helper

The iAM Smart app lets you access many government services online using your phone. If you’ve already registered, you can upgrade to iAM Smart+ for more advanced services like digital signing and online form submission with full identity verification.

What’s the Difference?

  • iAM Smart: Basic access to view services (e.g. check vaccine records, tax info, etc.)
  • iAM Smart+: Full access, including digital signing, form submission, and identity-based services like e-banking or online applications
If you need to submit official forms online, or use services that require a digital signature, you’ll need to upgrade to iAM Smart+.

Steps to Upgrade

  1. Open the iAM Smart mobile app on your phone
  1. Tap Upgrade to iAM Smart+
  1. Read the Declaration of the Applicant carefully
      • Tap Agree and then Start
  1. Turn on voice navigation for guidance (if needed)
      • Use your phone camera to take a photo of the front side of your HKID
  1. Then, place the HKID near the NFC antenna area of your phone
      • Hold it there for about 8 seconds until your data is read
  1. Align your face inside the frame shown on screen
  1. Follow instructions for real-person detection, glare check, and facial identification
