Are you planning to join your employer on holiday to South Korea? If you are a domestic helper in Singapore, your employer can apply for a visa to travel to South Korea. However, certain requirements and procedures need to be followed. Let's discuss more information.

Requirements

Domestic helpers can apply for a C-3-9 Short Term Tourism Visa only if they meet the following conditions:
  1. The helper has been employed for at least 6 months by the employer at the time of application.
  1. The employer must have humanitarian reasons for bringing the helper, such as:
      • Assisting with young children (12 years and below).
      • Assisting with elderly family members (65 years and above).
      • Assisting with a person with special needs or a medical condition.
  1. The employer and family members must be traveling together with the domestic helper.
Note: Domestic helpers who wish to travel independently or without the employer's permission are not eligible to apply.

Important Rules

  • Domestic helpers can apply for a visa only once per year (every 12 months).
  • Only one domestic helper per trip is allowed.
    • If two helpers are required, both applications must be submitted together with supporting documents.
  • Do not purchase airline tickets before visa approval.
  • Processing takes 4 working days, and there is no express service.
  • The visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance.

Required Documents

Migrant Domestic Helper

  1. Visa application form (fully completed) with one passport-sized photo (white background).
  1. Original passport with at least 6 months validity and a clear photocopy of the bio-data page.
  1. Work permit (clear photocopy from SGWORKPASS app - Pass Details and My Employment Info, obtained within one week of application).
      • WP with less than 8 weeks remaining validity must be renewed before application.

Employer

  1. Employment verification document (choose one):
      • Employees: Company letter confirming employment details (issued within one month).
      • Self-employed: Latest ACRA business profile printout.
      • Unemployed: Spouse’s company letter.
  1. Recent 3 months' bank statements (original and copy). Credit/debit card statements not accepted.
  1. Clear passport copy of all family members traveling to Korea.
  1. Clear photocopy of NRIC/EP/S-Pass/LTVP/DP of all traveling family members.
      • Singaporeans may omit this.
  1. Re-entry permit (if employer is a PR).
  1. Letter of Guarantee for the Domestic Helper (template available from the travel agent).
  1. Marriage certificate (clear photocopy, if applicable).
  1. Supporting documents for humanitarian reason (choose one):
      • Young child (12 years & below): Child’s birth certificate (clear photocopy).
      • Elderly (65 years & above): Employer’s birth certificate (clear photocopy).
      • Person with special needs/medical condition: Doctor’s memo (issued within 6 months) explaining the necessity.

Application

  1. Prepare all documents listed above.
  1. Submit the application through an appointed travel agent (personal submission is not allowed).
  1. Pay the visa fee (cash payment only; check the embassy website for fee details).
  1. Wait for processing (4 working days).
  1. Collect the visa grant notice online after approval (physical visa stickers are no longer issued).
